Wet Ink 20/Modney "Engage"

The Surrogate

The Lyric Theatre opera company at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will join forces with the Illinois Modern Ensemble to premiere my one-act opera The Surrogate (with librettist Emily Roller). The first half of the evening will be classic opera scenes and The Surrogate will be after intermission.

Arizona State University conducting DMA candidate Melanie Brooks has commissioned several composers for this unique and adorable project pairing college wind ensembles with middle-school-age soloists in in the early stages of their instrumental study. I contributed a piece called X + X = ? for horn and alto sax soloists and wind ensemble.
